Weight Loss Basics - Measuring Progress

Progress toward a goal is always determined by the purpose. Weight loss is no exception. You must determine the true goal of losing weight, if the appearance, health, quality of life, self-image, or any other personal reason to lose weight.
(Fifth in a series)
The objective
It 'clear that progress towards a goal is mainly to determine the goal itself. If your goal is nothing less pounds, and, of course, but it would be very easy to determine: kilo lost is responsible for forward progress, not to have received pounds.
But not often, the goal is not only lost weight, but improve the appearance as well, which means that the cm lost, and here comes the question, whose objective is more important to you, or less than pounds inches.
That may be sixty / forty proposal, or any other report you and only you can determine.
The main objective
When it comes to weight loss long term, over a hundred pounds or more, the most important goal has not lost weight or inches. It may well be the quality of life is, or can be restored to health. Once again, really for Dieter to determine what is really important, or if there are several whose purpose is extended by others.
Appearance
There are cultures where a 300 body is not only desirable, but envied and respected. In the white Moor Arab culture in Mauritania, for example, female obesity have traditionally been valued as a sign of wealth, and obese girls are considered desirable. So desirable in fact that some girls are sent to fat farms, where the parents' request, their beautiful girls fed obese.
The same is true in Somalia, where obesity is not considered a health threat but rather as a sign of success, wealth, happiness and health.
Health risks aside, the United States and Western Europe do not share those cultural ideals. On the contrary, through films and commercials at the end opposite the point of anorexia, became revered idol y.
Of course, in the middle of the field is highly desirable. Few people would consider an attractive woman, if you count the ribs and is about twenty steps. A thin, flexible, healthy body, we want to heart.
Progress towards this goal is measured by inches and pounds lost, whose weight has a lot of other measures.
Health
Although appearance may be the same level of health for most obese men and women, at least I see the image and quality of life, the majority of hearts, we realize that health is the main objective, because without it there is no life to get the quality, or appearance
Improved health has many manifestations: increased strength, improved energy levels and alertness, less shortness of breath, to name a few that can be directly observed, and lower blood pressure, cholesterol-lowering which should be measured clinically.
If you feel or medically established that his health improves, although the loss of kilos and inches may be temporarily stopped, realizing that they are making progress in the most important of all.
Waist-hip ratio (apple or pear)
Some studies show that a pear-shaped body, where most weight is held around the hips, face a greater risk than the apple-shaped bodies, with emphasis gathered around the waist.
To determine this, measure the circumference of your hips at the widest part of your buttocks. Then measure your waist at the smallest circumference of your natural waist, usually just above the navel. To calculate the ratio, divide your waist measurement by your hip measurement.
For women, a ratio below 0.80 is considered low risk, between 0.81 and 0.85, moderate and above 0.85 high risk. For men, 0.95 or less is considered low-risk, between 0.96 and 1.00, moderate risk, and greater than 1.0 at high risk.
As discussed below with BOS, this relationship should be considered as an additional measure, not the gospel, and should be read in conjunction with other indicators of progress.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
Also called the Quetelet body mass index was invented in the nineteenth century, Adolphe Quetelet, a Belgian brilliant because it has developed a "social physics". Body mass index defines the subject's weight divided by the square of its height.
Formulas commonly used in medicine to produce a unit of measurement kg/cm2, and is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms, square your height in centimeters.
Internet is full of BMI calculators, select the desired one.
BMI to determine where on a scale of desirability, or a healthy relationship with a man lies with a less than 16.5 is considered severely underweight, 16.5 to 18.5 is considered underweight, 18.5 to 25.0 is considered normal, 25-30 is considered overweight, 30-35 is considered overweight class I (between 210-250 pounds), 35 to 40 is considered obese class II (between 250 and 290 pounds) and over 40 is obese class III (over 290 pounds).
The greatest value of the BMI is generally agreed that, and therefore can be used as a fairly reliable measure of how you want to be, well, it takes into account your height (but not your bone structure or other physical characteristics that can influence your ideal weight).
As you burn more calories than you consume, you can use BMI as a reliable criterion, but is not as gospel. Use in conjunction with other measures of progress.
Multiple Cropping regime
All diet plans, with the exception of the most openly fraudulent, and warned: they are abundant, have one goal: to help you burn more calories than you consume.
Perhaps the most reasonable project, we have seen in recent years has multiTRIM a diet that provides all the nutrients needed to maintain health, hunger simplifying fifteen calories in a meal replacement drink.
