Green Blessings are everywhere ... especially on the chest of spices.
The aroma of wood smoke in winter, and evergreen. But cross-country skiing holidays, the spicy scent. Herbs grow only in the tropics - such as cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, mace, cardamom, allspice and vanilla - it's called maturing. Their aromatic oils and volatile esters draw us a delicious mouth-watering aromas and flavors. Spices and hot inside of us, as if we had enjoyed the tropical sun on a cold day. Spices help to preserve foods and combat a variety of diseases, too. Come, sit by the fire and warm the feet. Close your eyes and imagine a thick green forests, where the spices grow.
Cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum) has made me an outlaw. A toothpick dipped in cinnamon oil was "substance" of choice in my elementary school. No matter how many adults try to discourage us, regardless of where they are threatened, we found a way to get our cinnamon "fix". As an adult, I prefer my sticks of cinnamon or finely ground, but I can still vividly remember the warm rush of a new course of cinnamon. All foods can be enhanced with cinnamon, apple pie, baked beans, pickles meat or salad dressings. The scent of cinnamon announces holiday cheer.Medicinally, cinnamon is a warming tonic. He continues chills, prevents colds, and warms the hands and feet of those who are cold all the time. Cinnamon has been used for over 2500 years as an appetite enhancer stomachic, carminative one, an antimicrobial, an antispasmodic, an anti-rheumatic and anti-fungal.
Cinnamon made the news recently, its ability to combat diabetes. Modern herbalists are fascinated by it mildly estrogenic, and a powerful antioxidant.
Folk medicine reminds us that cinnamon tea is a gentle yet effective cure for childhood diarrhea at the same time and worm infestations. In India, cinnamon tea is regarded as a remedy against bad breath, nausea and vomiting. Cinnamon is often used by herbalists worldwide to improve the taste of solids, oil, cinnamon essential brews.The rooty is a good substitute for clove oil in the treatment of toothache.
