It is ... This extra day tacked on a weekend, be it a Monday or a Friday, turning a trip to a mini ... Of course, the weekend is three days a state of mind. A "three dayThere is something on this extra day tacked on a weekend, be it a Monday or a Friday, which becomes a journey into a mini-vacation. Of course, the weekend is three days a state of mind. A "three-day weekend" trip my boyfriend John and I went to Las Vegas in time on Memorial Day Monday and ends on Wednesday, we tend to take breaks just before or just after big holidays - .. you get better prices, better service and much less crowded than the trip we skipped our usual reservation to negotiate easier for midweek Luxor (always clean, excellent bathrooms) and made an offer on a blind Hotwire Hotel Vegas 5 stars and ended up in the bewildering to a stranger Venetian Price - under $ 100 night, including service charges.
Many people fly in California, Las Vegas, Tahoe or San Francisco, but we seem to end the conduct of our breaks, partly because the kennel we use is just off Highway 10 and often on the way in partly because the road to mean the party has already begun. When you add until you get to the airport early, parking, waiting to board, be inspected and then retrieve the baggage at the other end, you are almost the same number of hours of travel. And on the plan, we do not get to eat one of Jean patented toasted sandwiches. In a way, the way it makes the sandwich means I actually eat mayonnaise, a substance that I hate in general. Driving against the traffic (everyone was back from a weekend and oh what a stream of headlights we saw crawling along) we were hypnotized by the flashing lights of an Outlet Mall / casino combo at the border - Lake Tahoe, Nevada - and stopped in.
Offers clothing for men, not so great for women's clothing - but we have not done an exhaustive search. On Vegas this trip, we dragged our battered garment bag with a strap just broke through the thick-floored marble lobby, looking like refugees. We walked into our room, as the piece - with its canopy bed, get a TV room and large marble bathrooms (two toilets, a shower and a huge tub), pulled the champagne had been beautiful the cost of glasses Champagne travel (if they break we do not care) and put in the bathroom and fluffy in the offers of Venice. A cable movie and champagne shook the dust of travel by road. The next two days in Vegas sometimes means the spa for me, the sports bar of John, and our pursuit of slot machines to play abroad. The "Ripley's Believe It Or Not" slots actually reward you for answering trivia questions.
Las Vegas is not really thinking, but the time we play the game we have a few interested onlookers impressed with our ability to take data from our brain. We played with the idea of ??hanging around the machines with a cocktail and helping other players answer their bonus questions but decided against it. Along the strip, the Barbary Coast has maintained its original kitsch, nestled between lush hotels who doubtless are sporadically tries to buy them. The tables are not friendly and attract a crowd of players of the issues quite low. As in many hotels, dealers display where they come in your ID card. A major distributor in the Czech Republic, blonde Barbary Coast took John away Thurs blackjack with the respiration rate and efficiency. Paid for the number of cards is it? It was so fast that the dealer at the next table looked very angry against him to ruin the fun for everyone. His attitude was "This is the Barbary Coast, do not do that here."
Fortunately, the sports book paid for John phenomenally. If have food, Vegas can be frustrating. Buffet deal though, to order the food is often expensive and mediocre. You can always count on chains consistency (Vegas has branches of California Pizza Kitchen, Wolfgang Puck's, Chin Chin, and tons more), but part of a vacation is to try something new. We found two gems last visit. Two new positions were both com venerable, a family of Rat Pack era which keeps re-invent themselves and stay competitive at the top of the heap on the Strip. At the Palm restaurant (also NY and LA) is a businessman lunch, the $ 15.95 - choice of soup or salad, choice of fish or filet mignon (), and coffee. Wines by the glass are pricey but excellent. One of the characteristics of the food Caeser fields such as the provision of a good Southern barbecue, roast turkey sandwiches, and dinner pastries. As mean, we can not resist our old standby - restaurant veranda of the Four Seasons'.
Their three-course dinner special for 30 bucks is a lot - cooked to cook (not a kitchen worker), and always carefully planned menu. One evening we were told it was definitely a chef on hand as the man himself - well muscled and friendly - came out of the kitchen to talk, when we had a question about how he did it the perfect fish. I still use his halibut recipe - hot pan with a stove, near the end of the fish, and then transfer it to the cold of the United Nations oiled skillet in the oven - but I digress. Even on a hot summer, dine outdoors during the night at Four Seasons is quite pleasant, because you can sit by the pool. It 'hard to find peace in Las Vegas, but here you get - do not play in the Four Seasons. If you want to play on the porch after dinner, the hotel is connected to Mandalay Bay air-conditioned lobby.
We left town the next day, stopping at Ceasers, our new casual spot, good coffee for the road - and contemplated a last attempt slots Ripley. We decided to jump and call it even when we learned the valet parking outside the coffee was free. We got on Interstate 15 and joined the crowd during the week of truckers headed to California. Traffic was light through 'cuz driver a break. We sail to Interstate 10 and can not at the kennel soon enough for dogs. I'm sure the dogs know when we get closer, but I always call the kennel keeper to warn him. People need advice on what dogs already know. The sound of an approaching car trips every dog ??in the kennel but the barking settles when the guys know us and they jump at home convertible and heading. Bert the shepherd sits in the middle to the front to make sure we follow the right path.
The other two mutt, Buster and Louie, lounge in the back, hanging his head out the window, the kennel is already forgotten. We never travel without the house a few kids waving and pointing to the three people with funny dogs.At least pick up the guilt involves much less than the deposit, but sorry boys - there will always be another weekend of three days to come.
